My architectural practice is based in new construction, renovations, restorations, and additions for single and multi-family homes. The majority of this work is with historic homes or homes located in neighborhoods or towns of historic or surrounding significance. The majority of recent projects are located in Boston, Brookline, Concord, Dover, Newton, Wellesley, and Weston, and span time and traditions from the 1700s to the present.
This work relies most on my ability to appropriately understand an existing historic or traditional context and site, and to design new additions or construction to that in a way where the new fits seamlessly to the original without calling undue attention to itself. Designing to the site to maximize the specific conditions of view, light, and space is a primary consideration in all of my work. Opening up existing or new interior spaces, refinishing and maintaining existing materials, and encouraging sustainable systems and products are also major architectural goals. Reworking and repartitioning existing residential spaces to accommodate more contemporary life styles is typical of many of the projects illustrated here.
Of equal importance, managing budgets and the process of both design and construction are standard responsibilities of my architectural practice
